Revtangen BO April 20th-30th

April was unusually cold in Norway as in much of the rest of Europe. The 20th-25th was windy and no ringing was carried out, from the 26th-30th there was little wind but cold nights, and light shifting breeze which turned NW early in the day. Between 9 and 15 birds were ringed each day, so very quiet.

Two Ring Ouzels were the highlight during this period.

Ringed, April 26th-30th: Wood Pigeon 2, White Wagtail 8, Meadow Pipit 4, European Robin 7, Song Thrush 2, Fieldfare 2, Ring Ouzel 2, Common Blackbird 2, Blackcap 2, Willow Warbler 6, Chiffchaff 2, Common Starling 2, Chaffinch 2, Brambling 1, Greenfinch 3, Common Linnet 5, Lesser Redpoll 4, Yellowhammer 1. Total = 57. Also 27 controls. including a male Chaffinch not from Revtangen.


The first two Blackcaps were trapped on the 29th, a very late date compared to recent years.


Ringmerket, 26.-30. april: Ringdue 2,linerle 8, heipiplerke 4, rødstrupe 7, måltrost 2, gråtrost 2, ringtrost 2, svarttrost 2, munk 2, løvsanger 6, gransanger 2, stær 2, bokfink 2, bjørkefink 1, grønnfink 3, tornirisk 5, brunsisik 4, gulspurv 1. Total = 57. Også 27 kontrollerm inkl. en hann bokfink merket annetsteds.
