Revtangen BO August 15th-29th

A period dominated by northerlies, but with a few days with light NE on the 22nd-23rd producing a few migrants in the trapping area. Playback on Sand Martins on the 21st-22nd also produced a nice catch. Only 4 days with normal trapping effort with mist-nets in the trapping garden. Finally we made 3 attempts at trapping waders with 8 walk-in traps at Revtangen, on the 26th-27th and 29th. An excellent week from the 21st-29th, with more than a thousand birds ringed. 137 juvenile Sanderlings was trapped on a single day on the 26th, a new observatory record. The previous single-day record for Sandlerlings was set exactly 70 years ago, 91 birds on August 26th 1951.
