Revtangen BO August 1st-14th

The weather in August so far has been changeable and at times unstable with strong rainshowers. Most days with a few hours of calm after sunrise, and increasing wind from the south after 9-10 in the morning, resulting in inefficient trapping conditions most of the day. So far numbers of passerines in the trapping area has been low, and trapping effort have been limited. Focus has been on trapping waders around the artificial pools with playback.

Wood Sandpiper 1 cy, August 9th. Grønnstilk 1K.

Ringed, August 1st-14th: European Storm-petrel 23, COMMON BUZZARD 1, Dunlin 2, Green Sandpiper 6, Wood Sandpiper 7, Greenshank 3, Redshank 2, Common Sandpiper 24, Common Snipe 2, Collared Dove 1, White Wagtail 1, Tree Pipit 1, Sand Martin 3, Barn Swallow 2, Northern Wheatear 2, Fieldfare 1, Redwing 1, Sedge Warbler 2, Garden Warbler 1, Common Whitethroat 4, Lesser Whitethroat 2, WOOD WARBLER 1, Willow Warbler 42, Spotted Flycatcher 1, Great Tit 3, Common Starling 14, House Sparrow 2, Greenfinch 1, Lesser Redpoll 2, Common Linnet 1. Total = 136. Also 6 controls of birds not from Revtangen, 4 European Storm-petrels (2 British, 2 Norwegian), and single Norwegian Willow Warbler and Common Starling.

Common Buzzard 1 cy, August 7th. The first ever trapped and ringed at Revtangen BO. Musvåk 1K.

Wood Warbler 1 cy August 8th. The first this season. Wood Warblers are less than annual at the bird observatory, but most years we ring 1-2.

Ringmerket 1.-14. august: Havsvale 23, MUSVÅK 1, myrsnipe 2, skogsnipe 6, grønnstilk 7, gluttsnipe 3, rødstilk 2, strandsnipe 24, enkeltbekkasin 2, tyrkerdue 1, linerle 1, trepiplerke 1, sandsvale 3, låvesvale 2, steinskvett 2, gråtrost 1, rødvingetrost 1, sivsanger 2, hagesanger 1, tornsanger 4, møller 2, BØKSANGER 1, løvsanger 42, gråfluesnapper 1, kjøttmeis 3, stær 14, gråspurv 2, grønnfink 1, brunsisik 2, tornirisk 1. Total = 136. Også 6 kontroller av fugler merket annetsteds, 4 havsvaler (2 britiske, 2 norske), og en hver av norske løvsanger og stær.
