Revtangen BO May 1st-6th

The unusually cold weather has followed us into May. No ringing on the 1-2nd, a very poor day with 9 new birds on the 3rd, then a change to quite strong ENE on the 4th which gave us a decent day with 57 birds ringed, before a return to cold and quiet with only 7 new birds on the 5th and increadibly poor 5 new birds on the 6th. There is cold and rain to the SE, including in northern Denmark, the migration seems to have pretty much frozen at the moment. The bulk of the catch on the 4th was not tropical migrants, as one might expect at this time - it was Song Thrushes! 39 of them, including many adults (3cy+), the second highest single-day total of this species ever at Revtangen BO. A strong arrival of Song Thrush is something which normally occur around April 15th-20th.

Second highest number of Song Thrush ever on May 4th 2021.
