Revtangen BO September 28th-30th

Very nice and calm conditions with light NE on the 28th. Most of the 29th rained away, but half the nets could be opened after noon. Trapping on the 30th was terminated already just after 9 because the movements of Blue Tits was a bit too strong and we ran a risk of trapping too many to handle.



Ring Ouzel, adult female. Ringtrost, 2K+ hunn.

Ringed, September 28th-30th: NORTHERN GOSHAWK 1, Grey Wagtail 8, Meadow Pipit 2, Winter Wren 12, Dunnock 4, European Robin 4, Common Redstart 2, Song Thrush 3, Redwing 4, Common Blackbird 5, RING OUZEL 2, Blackcap 11, Garden Warbler 3, Willow Warbler 3, Common Chiffchaff 14, YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER 4, Goldcrest 10, Willow Tit 1, Coal Tit 3, Great Tit 15, Blue Tit 158, Eurasian Nuthatch 1, House Sparrow 2, Tree Sparrow 6, Chaffinch 2, Brambling 3, Greenfinch 23, Lesser Redpoll 3, European Goldfinch 1, Yellowhammer 1, Reed Bunting 5. Total = 338. Also 20 controls, including 3 Blue Tits and 1 Blackcap not from Revtangen.


4 new Yellow-browed Warblers were ringed, 3 on the 28th and 1 on the 30th. Gulbrynsanger.


Ringmerket 28-30.9.: HØNSEHAUK 1, vintererle 8, heipiplerke 2, gjerdesmett 12, jernspurv 4, rødstrupe 4, rødstjert 2, måltrost 3, rødvingetrost 4, svarttrost 5, RINGTROST 2, munk 11, hagesanger 3, løvsanger 3, gransanger 14, GULBRYNSANGER 4, fuglekonge 10, granmeis 1, svartmeis 3, kjøttmeis 15, blåmeis 158, spettmeis 1, gråspurv 2, pilfink 6, bokfink 2, bjørkefink 3, grønnfink 23, brunsisik 3, stillits 1, gulspurv 1, sivspurv 5. Total = 338. Også 20 kontroller, inkludert 3 blåmeis og 1 munk fra annetsteds.


This Feathered Thorn (Colotois pennaria) in one of the Robinson-traps on the 29th was only the second record for Revtangen, 13 years after the first one in 2007. Spinnermåler.
